What Makeup Artists Advise to Stay Fab When It’s Raining in Manila

The rainy season has started, and every makeup junkie knows how hassle it is when it’s pouring hard in Manila. It’s really easy to look like a disaster, what with the humidity, traffic and flooding, even a little rain brings. But don’t you worry, fam, because here are some tips from Manila makeup artists that can make you stay gorgeous this season. Say goodbye to your weather issues and slay all day in this gloomy weather.


  • Apply moisturizer. Since humidity is inevitable during the monsoon season, your skin needs to keep hydrated, and moisturizer can just do that. Just apply thin coat of tinted moisturizer as it tends to stay longer than foundation.

  • Dab some primer to keep your moisturizer from melting off. Primer also helps your makeup stay in place when the weather gets rough.

  • Once your moisturizer set, apply face powder. Face powder is better than foundation as it stays more intact when drenched. It also keeps the greasy look away.

  • Remember that during the rainy season, less blush is more. If you want something that will stick with your face all day, especially when it gets humid in Manila, go for pastel cream blush and avoid powder blush. The key to achieve the best rainy day look is picking the right shade. Makeup artists agree to keep your blush subtle and blend it well.

  • For the eyes, use powder eye shadows and pencil eyeliners as these don’t melt off easily during the monsoon season. Also, go for subtle colors like pink, brown and beige.

  • Mascara is a big no-no, not unless you want it smudging down your eyes. But if you need to wear one, go for waterproof mascara.

  • Matte lipstick is the best choice to achieve a long lasting effect. Glossy lipsticks tend to smear more easily compared to matte.

  • Finally, use moisturizing mask at night. The humidity can really dry your skin this season so stay hydrated by wearing moisturizing mask before going to bed.


A change of season means new problems for makeup enthusiasts. However, with the right products and the right advice from makeup artists, you can stay fab and gorgeous even when it seems a disaster when it’s raining in Manila.
